Neal Brennan (Co-Creator of “Chappelle’s Show”) now headlines Fireside Comedy Night!

Dear Fam:

LINE-UP CHANGE AND I’M EXCITED!!! (in case the all caps and numerous exclamation points didn’t give it away)

As I said, once a year, the historic Miles Memorial Playhouse in Santa Monica rearranges their seating so performances can take place beside the huge vintage fireplace. Comfy couches, cozy candles, organic beverages and snacks.
I’m hosting a comedy night tomorrow, Thursday, Dec 20th at 8pm.
(The Downbeat 720 high school event has been postponed ’til Tuesday, Jan 8th.)

Some upcoming shows

I haven’t had any time to really sit down with my updated site yet but if you’re reading this, you’re an awesome human being and I wanna share what’s happening.

I’m currently in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware having a mini-vacation.  I just finished doing a staged reading for San Diego Repertory Theater of Richard Montoya’s (Culture Clash) new play “Federal Jazz Project.”  We had an amazing time, a truly talented group of artists.  Gilbert Castellanos’ jazz quintet, Richard’s words, Claudia Gomez’s tap dancing, Sam Woodhouse’s direction.  While I was down there, I featured at two poetry spots – Train of Thought hosted by Gil Sotu and Elevate hosted by Rudy Francisco, Viet Mai and the gang.  I also performed a stand-up comedy set as part of Mark Christopher Lawrence’s monthly stand-up showcase at House of Blues.  It was a busy week.

And now I’m enjoying a li’l sun while preparing for two upcoming shows:

Friday, August 24th, I’ll be opening for Carlos Mencia at Dover Downs, in Dover, Delaware.

Monday, August 27th, I’ll be performing at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA for the third year in a row as part of their freshman orientation week.  I always have a great time with their student body.  A talented group of students.

So besides prepping for those shows, I’m working on a few short films but, most importantly, I’m being patient with myself.  I’m enjoying the positives and understanding, appreciating and letting go of the rest.

If you’re interested in attending either upcoming show, please let me know by reaching out at joe@pochojoe.com.

Love,

Joe
